ENRICHMENT CLASSES IN CRITICAL READING

Do you want to improve your critical reading skills in English?

 

 

Do you feel that you would like a fuller understanding of the intercultural texts in your Interaction 1 Reading textbook?

 

 

 
This Critical Reading class aims to help you to:

1)        Read between the lines, that is, understand the hidden messages of intercultural texts.

2)       Use tools of systemic functional grammar to analyze intercultural texts.

3)       Increase level of awareness about ‘self' culture embedded in intercultural texts.

4)       Increase level of awareness about ‘other' cultures embedded in intercultural texts.

5)       Appreciate self and other cultures embedded in intercultural texts.

-          هل تريد تطوير مهاراتك في القراءة الناقدة في اللغة الإنجليزية؟

-          هل تشعر بانك بحاجة الى فهم أعمق للنصوص التي تحوي على تداخل ثقافي في مقرر القراءة؟

  • تهدف دورة القراءة النقدية الى تقديم المساعدة في:

1-      القراءة ما بين السطور لفهم المعاني الخفية للنصوص متعددة الثقافات.

2-      توظيف القواعد لتحليل النصوص متعددة الثقافات.

3-      زيادة مستوى الوعي حول ثقافة " الذات" في النصوص متعددة الثقافات.

4-       زيادة مستوى الوعي حول ثقافة " الاخر" في النصوص متعددة الثقافات.

5-      تقدير ثقافة " الذات" وكذلك " الاخر" في النصوص متعددة الثقافات.

Time: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM

الوقت: أيام الأربعاء والخميس من كل أسبوع من 11:45 ص – 12:45 م.

Place:  Room B116

المكان: قاعة B116

Target students: Students who have scored A+وA (20-25) in the First Midterm of 140 Reading this semester 1437-1438.

الفئة المستهدفة: الطلاب الحاصلين على A, A+ (20-25) في الاختبار الأول في مقرر القراءة.

Teaching Materials: selected paragraphs from Kirn and Hartmann's Reading Interactions 1.

Note:

 Students should bring with them their reading textbook, pens and notebooks.
